Run for the Mouse

On Wednesday evening, September 26th Athletics Manitoba and the Manitoba Runners' Association was hosting a run, "Run for the Mouse 5k Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk" to raise money for long time member and runner, Marilyn (Mouse) Fraser. It started at 6:30 p.m. at the Duck Pond shelter in Assininboine Park. (Details)

Toronto edition of this run was hold in High Park. (Details)

Marilyn has been involved with road running for many years. She is a past president of the Manitoba Runners' Association and a current member of the Athletics Manitoba Run Manitoba Committee. She is a level five official with MTFOA and has received recognition for 30 years of service to track and field. She has served on the Manitoba Marathon technical and school promotion committees. She has taught running clinics at the Running Room and has devoted nearly 40 years of her life to the running community. Marilyn was inducted into the Canadian Road Race Hall of Fame in 1992 and the MRA Hall of Fame in 2006. Now Mouse has a different and more challenging race to run. She has recently been diagnosed with cancer of the tongue and is facing several weeks of radiation and chemo treatments. Now it is our turn to give back to her and we hope you will come out to this run in support of Mouse. She will possibly be off work for 6 months to a year. All funds raised will go directly to Marilyn.
